ECF Bleaching

Elemental Chlorine-Free (ECF) Bleaching Certificate represents that the paper product has been bleached using the ECF process. The bleaching process is used to whiten the paper and remove any possible impurities. During the process, chlorine dioxide is used instead of elemental chlorine, in order to reduce the risk of producing harmful by-products that can have negative environmental and health impacts. The certificate is issued by a third-party certifying organization, such as the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).
